Chances are when you think about Walt Disney World, your mind immediately envisions this wonderful park.
Magic Kingdom (MK) is full of classic Disney details; with elegant buildings lining Main Street USA, and the five additional fun filled lands all surrounding the iconic Cinderella Castle. Magic Kingdom truly is the epitome of, well, magic!
Magic Kingdom contains 6 lands that encompass over 40 attractions which are sure to entice kids of all ages! There is Main Street USA, Tomorrow Land, Fantasy Land, Frontier Land, Adventure Land, and Liberty Square. Undoubtedly, MK is a popular park, and crowds tend to be quite large. There are a few recommendations and tips that I have used, that you may find helpful when you are visiting this awesome park.
Jessica’s Tips:
Create a wish list of all the attractions, characters, shows, etc. that everyone in your party would like to experience. Prioritize those items first and then anything else you can achieve is a bonus! It is possible to see and do all the experiences on your list, but it is helpful to keep an open mind and a “go with the flow attitude” when you are visiting MK.
Consider purchasing Disney Genie + Service when you visit MK. This is a recommendation I would give to everyone. The investment is sure to increase your opportunity to maximize your time spent in the park.
With all the attractions, character meet and greets, character dining, parades, and shows within this park, I recommend spending at least two days during your vacation at MK. This will lessen the stress of trying to “fit it all in” in one day and will give you the most time and opportunity to accomplish the items on your wish list.
Start in one land within MK and check off the items on your list. Once you have accomplished those, move on to the next land, and so on. If you have Genie + service, I recommend that you try to grab lightning lanes in one area of the park; however, you may be backtracking at times.
It is true what they say, “the early bird gets the worm!” I believe in getting to MK right at park opening and starting your day. This is a wonderful way to beat “some” of the crowds. Keep in mind the current benefit if you are staying at a Disney Resort, you can enter the park 30 minutes before it opens. This is an excellent opportunity to accomplish some of the attractions on your list right away in the morning.
Consider a stay at a Deluxe Disney Resort due to the benefit of being able to stay in the parks for an additional two hours after closing on certain evenings. This benefit is an excellent opportunity to enjoy countless experiences when most other people have left the park.
When traveling with small children, keep in mind attractions that have height restrictions. Currently the attractions that have a restriction are as follows:
- The Barnstormer – 35”
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad – 40”
- Space Mountain – 44”
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train – 38”
- Tomorrowland Speedway – 32”
- TRON Lightcycle/Run – 48″
Take breaks, especially if you are traveling with little ones! It is possible to still accomplish the items on your wish list even with taking a mid-day break to relax at your resort. Spend the time taking a nap or utilizing the pool. Then head back to the park in the early evening to complete your night at the park. Note: if you have Genie + remember you can continue to book lightning lane reservations every two hours!
Have fun! One of the reasons I love Disney is because it makes me feel like a kid again. Between the attractions and meeting the characters, you are sure to embrace your inner child as well!
Take photos! Certainly, you will be making memories that will live with you forever. Don’t miss the opportunities take photos throughout the park and especially in front of Cinderella Castle! My favorite time to snap these pictures is at night when the castle is all a glow! It’s absolutely beautiful!
Consider Disney’s Photo Pass Memory Maker. This is an excellent service for families traveling together to ensure no one is left out of these amazing pictures you are sure cherish.
